You are invited to participate in a daring experiment of intimacy and isolation. Your fully-charged phone set to ‘disturb’ is compulsory to enter a new era where the collective experience of theatre converges with the isolating nature of technology. Together, we will start The Machine.

As early adopters celebrate the marvels of instant communication and remote engagement, The Machine’s insidious grip tightens. This avant-garde original work compels us to confront the paradox of technology: it’s promise to unite us while leaving us more isolated than ever before. The Machine Starts questions the boundaries of theatre itself and asks if genuine connection can thrive in an age of perpetual digital mediation. 

This is not just a play; it is a provocative exploration of our modern existence and the machines that shape it. Don't miss your chance to be part of this singular event—where the future of theatre is both unsettling and mesmerising.

Audience Requirements: To experience The Machine Starts as intended, audience members must bring along their own fully charged iPhone/Android/Samsung device and individual headphones. It will be very confusing and boring if you don’t. You may be required to download an app or use a browser, and you will be required to log into a Wifi service. Adventurous audience members may be asked to provide their contact number for advanced participation. Failures in technology may or may not form part of the proceedings.
